If you get too close to the Cosmonaut, he will grab you and head-butt you. It’s basically the “Moon” version of George Romero from Call of the dead, but worse. There is also a new zombie type that I call the “Cosmonaut.” I guess it’s not really clear if he’s a zombie or not, but it’s definitely an enemy, who very slowly follows you around the moon. Once the power is on however, interior rooms of the space station will have gravity and oxygen allowing players to remove their space suits and hear incoming zombie sounds. When wearing the space suit in a vacuum the sounds of incoming zombies is non-existant, making you much more vulnerable to sneak attacks from behind. The lack of oxygen also makes a significant difference. It once again will pull zombies into itself, like a black hole, making it an extremely useful weapon when being over run by massive hordes of enemies. And finally this is not a new weapon (it already appeared in Ascension) but I feel it’s worth mentioning that the Gersch Device is back. There are 23 different known effects of the QED so far. It could explode just like a normal grenade, detonate more like a Scavenger round, drop a new weapon, become a fully automatic SPAS turret, etc. The next new weapon is the “Quantum Entanglement Device” or “QED.” This weapon takes your secondary grenade slot, and can do a number of different things when used. Additionally there is a secondary firing function that will take out a large group of undead all at once. First is the “Zap Gun.” This gun comes out of the mystery box, it’s dual-wield, and shoots electrical rounds at incoming zombies. The days of aiming at head level and mowing down hordes of walking dead are over. Getting a headshot on a zombie that’s bouncing towards you in low gravity is unbelievably difficult. Then the game essentially plays out like the other zombies maps with a few important changes.įirst, off there’s reduced gravity. When first arriving there is no air, so every member of the team needs to find a space suit. At this point hellhounds also spawn, so this is the point at which we all get in the teleporter and head to the moon. Eventually, an alarm will sound and then massive waves of zombies come incredibly fast, and are harder to kill. zombies spawn around you and are a one knife kill, just like round one. Now, while the remakes of the original maps are fun to go back and play, the real draw of this DLC is “Moon.” So basically the premise is, somehow zombies got onto the Moon and the orignal zombie killing team, with Dempsey, Richtofen and the others, must fight off the endless waves of undead. These maps suddenly feel a little different and offer a reason to go back when you can pull a SPAS or an RPK out of the mystery box. The biggest (and most awesome) difference is that weapons from Black Ops spawn in the mystery box. They are layed out the same, look the same (except for some slight aesthetic tweaks), and the same weapons from WaW spawn on the walls. The original four maps play basically exactly the same as they did in WaW. The maps it comes with are the four original Zombies maps from WaW, “Nacht der Untoten,” “Verruckt,” “Shi No Numa,” and “Der Riese,” as well ass the new map “Moon”. Zombies, in my opinion, has been the best part of the most recent Treyarch developed Call of Duty games, and I was pretty excited to see DLC with nothing but Zombies maps. I’m not normally one to go and buy every map pack right away for a game, but this particular one really interested me because it was all zombies.
